On June 20th, 2025, a delegation of 11 representatives from the French National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS), led by the Chairman and CEO Dr. Antoine Petit, visited Tohoku University. During their visit, they met with President Tominaga and toured research facilities within the university. At the WPI-AIMEC visit, Director Toshio Suga presented on AIMEC’s establishment, research, and vision, and engaged in a discussion with Kentaro Ando, Principal Researcher of Research Promotion and Planning, and other members.
The French National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS), established in 1939, is France’s largest governmental basic research organization. It is a research center that focuses on global issues such as climate change, health and environment, and educational disparities, and has produced many Nobel laureates.
