Dr. S. Lan Smith and Dr. Ettore Barbieri delivered invited presentations at EXPO 2025

WPI-AIMEC Unit Leader S. Lan Smith and WPI-AIMEC Researcher Ettore Barbieri (both Senior Researcher, JAMSTEC) delivered invited presentations and joined a panel discussion at the Italian Pavilion, Expo 2025 in Osaka, July 31, 2025.

The Conference, “Italy and Japan for Marine and Terrestrial Biodiversity and Sustainability – Challenges and shared paths towards 2030”, was hosted by the Italian Ministry of Environment and Energy Security and held at the Italian Pavilion during Expo 2025 in Osaka, Japan.

This conference, focused on marine and terrestrial biodiversity, marine litter, and Invasive Alien Species (IAS), provided a platform to showcase a model of international cooperation grounded in trust, a shared vision, and mutual responsibility. Its aim was to foster bilateral collaboration toward common objectives, while promoting the exchange of best practices and expertise among private organizations, academic institutions, and public bodies.
