Prof. Katayama Spoke in Ishinomaki on the Changing Marine Environment and Fisheries Resources

WPI-AIMEC researcher Prof. Satoshi Katayama (Graduate School of Agricultural Science, Tohoku University) served as a speaker on Thursday, August 28, 2025, at the seminar “Knowing the Marine Environment: Fisheries Resources & the Sea in Tohoku,” hosted by the Ishinomaki Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Ishinomaki City.

In the seminar, Prof. Katayama spoke about recent changes in fish species landed in Tohoku, the reasons for these changes and the outlook for the future. He also discussed how to make better use of underutilized fish.

The lecture drew a full audience, including people from the fisheries sector, local government, and the restaurant industry. During the Q&A session, many questions were raised and a lively discussion followed.
