WPI-AIMEC Kickoff Symposium ”Unlocking the Future of the Ocean and its Ecosystems” was held at Sendai Kokusai Hotel.

On March 8, 2024, the WPI-AIMEC Kick-off Symposium “Unlocking the Future of Ocean and Ecosystems” was held at the Sendai International Hotel. At the venue, Prof. Suga, Director of the Institute, and Prof. Ando, Director of the Research Promotion and Planning Division, gave a general explanation of WPI-AIMEC’s goal of “elucidating and predicting the response and adaptation mechanisms of marine ecosystems to global system change,” and the principal investigators introduced their detailed research. In the panel discussion, there was a lively debate on the complexity and stability of marine ecosystems, their relationship with human society, and highly accurate prediction of ecosystem change.
